| HISTORY Here at ROCK HARBOR HILL COUNTRY LODGE there is a sign on the front door that reads, "Here on this site in 1897 nothing happened". We like to tell visitors they can make their own memories here. Truth is this replica of an 1800's historic German home will have you thinking that you have stepped back in time with it's 20" rock walls and rock floors. After purchasing our home in 2006, we immediately began remodeling the existing structure. We also added a Master Suite separated from the original home with it's own entrance. During the remodeling we learned more about its history and the master craftsmanship that went into it. So to us it does have a lot of history! The stone for instance is from the surrounding Sisterdale area, the cedar that frames the doors, windows and used on the ceiling was milled on site as well as the cedar post along the porches. The huge front doors were an old water tank re-milled to make a grand entrance. An old goat shed from Waring was brought in and served as a separate laundry shed as if it were the 1800's. It now sits out back and has been remodeled into a small cottage we call The Tussie Mansion. There's an old hymn that says, "On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand".
